Minister Charges Media Practitioners On Ethics
The Minister for Information and Communication, Prof. Dora Akunyili, has called on media practitioners in the country to help protect the ethics and norms of journalism.
Prof. Akunyili gave the charge on Monday at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos during the opening ceremony for the training of journalists in Rivers State organised by Nigeria Liquefied and Natural Gas Company (NLNG).
The Minister who was represented by Mr. Okey Nwachukwu, remarked that journalism profession ought to be held in high esteem due to its peculiar nature, advising those who give the profession a bad name to turn a new leaf as, according to her, journalists played a key role in the rebranding Nigeria campaign.
She, however, called on other corporate organisations to join the federal and state governments in the crusade to regain the lost glory of the Nigerian nation so as to attract foreign investors to come and do business in Nigeria.
In his own contribution, Mr. Chima Ibeneche, urged the participants to make good use of the opportunity given them while lauding Thompson Foundation over its determination to train seasoned journalists in the country
