Old Girls Hail Mrs Ayade’s Good Works
The old girls of Girls Secondary School(GSS) Obudu, class 88 recently paid a courtesy visit to the wife of Cross River State Governor, Dr. (Mrs.) Linda Ayade to appreciate her for the good works she is doing in the state through her laudable initiatives to complement her husband, Prof. Ben Ayade, the Governor of the State.
Speaking recently at Mega Hilton Hotel, Obudu, the Governor’s wife who is also a member of the association expressed gratitude to the women for finding time to pay her a courtesy visit as a group even at Obudu and for acknowledging her good works through her pet projects.
Dr. Ayade also thanked them for briefing her on the situation of things in the school which require attention. She disclosed that the President of the association has been giving her an update on the school and its deplorable condition, adding that she has seen some schools where the old students association come together to do great things for their schools (alma mata) and that it is not a mistake that she happens to be in the ‘88’ set. She therefore promised to work in tandem with the group to renovate the school and restore back the lost glory.
On some of the challenges confronting the school, Dr. Ayade said that she will find out why the school is no longer operating a boarding system as it used to be during their days and see what they can collectively do about it. She observed that the former uniform has been changed noting the new uniform is not good enough in terms of quality, wishing that the school authority will revert to the former uniform that so distinguished the students from other schools around.
She further said that it is always good to have home students come together to encourage the younger ones to sit in the positions that they occupied, while commending them for coming together to rub minds on how to return the school to boarding school since they still have enough buildings, as well as carry out renovation work in the school, amongst others.
