Commissioner Reassures Wike’s Commitment To Dev

Rivers State Commissioner for Works, Hon. Dumnamene Deekor has reassured Rivers people of Governor Nyesom Wike’s commitment in developing the oil-rich state.
The commissioner gave the assertion when the Nigerian Institute of Guantity Surveyors (NIDS), Rivers State chapter paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Port Harcourt, Tuesday.
Deekor noted that the present administration since the past three years has been diligent in delivering projects across the 23 local government areas in the state.
According to him, “I have not seen a man who is focused, diligent and committed like Wike in giving the people the very best that they deserve in infrastructural development.”
He said the works ministry is putting up a team of quantity surveyors to review a lot of ongoing projects in terms of costing to ensure that the vision of Governor Wike on due process is not trampled upon in any manner.
The commissioner however, suggested for a joint-seminar between the ministry and the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) for purpose of acquiring more professional ideas and skills, as well as being informed with the current designs in construction.
Deekor also assured the Rivers NIQS of the ministry’s willingness to partner with them in the up-coming national conference tagged: “Job Fair” in the state, adding that “We will do our best to work together for the success of the programme as it benefits the professional staff in the ministry.”
Earlier, the Chairman of the State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) and leader of the delegation, Surveyor Ozioma Agi, had commended the governor for his zeal in delivering dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroot.
Agi stated that the state chapter of NIQS under his leadership will partner with the state in delivering quality infrastructures, adding that, “we are bringing a project tagged: “Job Fair” from the national that is aimed at helping the unemployed graduates of our noble profession, who are indigenes of the state.”
The NIQS boss further pleaded with the commission to make good use of the quantity surveyors in the ministry, noting that infrastructural developments projects would be better if more quantity surveyors would be engaged. He expressed gratitude for the privileged to synergise on better ways of achieving development.

HoS Hails Fubara Over Provision of Accommodation for Permanent Secretaries

The Head of Service (HoS) of Rivers State, Dr. Mrs. Inyingi S. I. Brown, has commended Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, for approving befitting accommodation for Permanent Secretaries in the state.

According to the Head of Service, Governor Fubara has continued to demonstrate uncommon commitment to the welfare of civil servants in Rivers State, stressing that such gestures underscore his people-oriented leadership style. As part of activities to mark the governor’s birthday, the Body of Permanent Secretaries announced the sponsorship of 329 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms for indigent students across the state.

A breakdown of the initiative shows that 319 forms will be distributed across the 319 political wards in Rivers State, while five forms are allocated to non-indigenes and five forms to persons living with disabilities.
