Nigeria Now Completely Directionless – Wike

The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike has declared that Nigeria is now completely directionless, with the country permanently on a dangerous downward slide.
Swearing-in four judges of the Rivers State High Court and Customary Court of Appeal at the Government House, Port Harcourt, recently, Wike regretted the politicisation of governance process, which he said had entrenched despair across the country.
Wike commended elder statesman, Lt-Gen Theophilus Danjuma (rtd) for saying the obvious truth about the security architecture of the country.
He said that Rivers State security had been deliberately compromised by security agencies which work with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to undermine the security of lives and property.
According to him, the recent deliberate crisis and threat to security by the APC on the setting up of the Neighbourhood Safety Corps underscores the devilish schemes to promote insecurity in the State.
“Nigeria has gotten to a point that we don’t know where we are heading. I don’t use to fast, but I will fast for God to keep Danjuma. Gen Theophilus Danjuma has said the obvious truth. It is happening daily in Rivers State.
“We are setting up our Neighbourhood Safety Corps, but they are generating crisis. We only replicated what is in existence in Lagos State, but nobody queries that of Lagos State. Only recently, Nasarawa State launched her outfit, without being challenged”, Wike said.
He berated the APC-led Federal Government for abandoning the solemn duty of protection of lives and property in pursuit of 2019 re-election.

Technology Key to Nigeria’s Socio-Economic Development, Says Computer Scientist
Dr. Legborsi Emmanuel, former state Chairman of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), has emphasized that technology is the sure way for Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
He made this assertion while speaking with newsmen at the sideline of 118th inaugural lecture series of Rivers State University (RSU) held in port Harcourt, wednesday.
He stressed that the lecture, which focused on emerging technology and its impact on the socio-economic development of the country, aligns with the NCS’s economic focus.
He highlighted the importance of building an economy driven by technology, citing the success of the Rivers State Smart Economy policy as an example.
The computer scientist emphasized the need for innovation and doing things differently, asserting that “technology is the only way out” for Nigeria’s development. He praised the lecturer, Professor Mathias Daniel, for exploring the applications of technology in various sectors, including agriculture, industry, transport, and socio-economics.
Dr. Emmanuel underscores the critical role technology plays in driving socio-economic growth and development in Nigeria by leveraging technology, the country can unlock new opportunities and address pressing challenges.
