PFNTo Provide Training For Officials
The President of
Para-athletics Federation of Nigeria (PFN), Frank Thorpe, has said the body would focus more on quality training for its officials in 2016.
Thorpe told newsmen in Lagos that trainers would be invited over from the International Paralympics Committee (IPC) to train Nigerian officials.
The body was unable to hold technical training for the officials during the outgoing year.
The PFN president said the proposed training would greatly help the federation in 2016, adding that it would also ensure that the officials’ skills were adequately updated.
“We are planning to bring training courses to officials of the federation, instead of sending them abroad.
“The resource persons will come from IPC. They are experts and you know we do not have any expert in this regard in the country.
“If we send people out, it will be more expensive and the ministry may not have such a huge fund.
“But if it is to bring one or two resource persons and have five coaches from each state attending the training, it will be cheaper for us,” he said.
Thorpe, however, said that he would continue to do his best to ensure the development of the sport as well as its athletes.
