Amaechi Lauds Giadom’s Leadership Qualities
Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has lauded the state Commissioner for Works, Mr. Victor Giadom, for ensuring transparency and accountability in the operations of the state Ministry of Works.
Governor Amaechi said this yesterday at a Special Thanksgiving Service to mark the 50th birthday anniversary of Mr. Giadom at St. Barth’s (Anglican) Church, Bera Deanery in Gokana Local Government Area of the state.
Represented by his Deputy, Engr. Tele Ikuru, the governor described Giadom as “a gift from Ogoni to the Government of Rivers State”.
“I must say that Victor is a gift from Ogoni to the government of Rivers State. I say he is a gift because before this time, the ministry he handles is one that is known for doing things upside down.
“It is a place you will never find accurate and proper record, but Victor brought integrity to that office. By the grace of God, since he has managed that office, we have seen transparency, integrity and prudence. Victor, congratulations, you are a gift to us. We will continue to stand by you”, he said.
Earlier in his sermon, Bishop of the Diocese of Ogoni, Rt. Rev. Solomon Gberegbara, in a sermon entitled, “Life is Like a Journey,” urged privileged members of the society to emulate the philanthropic virtues of the celebrant and show love and care for the needy, stressing, “let whatever you do be of help to the people because we shall be remembered for the works you have done”.
In his response, Giadom thanked the state government and his well-wishers for standing by him, promising to “do those things that will please God and stand by the people.”
He called on Ogoni people to stand by Governor Amaechi, noting that “what we have gotten from him outweighs all we got from previous governments, put together”.
