CAF Inspects Facilities In Libya
An inspection team from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) were in Libya last Wednesday to inspect facilities there and determine the suitability of the country to host continental competitions.
CAF team is expected to inspect stadiums in Tripoli, the capital, and in Benghazi, the country’s second largest city, and assess the country’s security situation.
After the inspection, the team will send its report to the Africa’s soccer governing body, which will decide whether or not to lift the suspension slammed on Libya’s stadia since the popular uprising that swept away the regime of Mouammar Ghadhafi in 2011.
Instability in the country forced CAF to move the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations from Libya to South Africa.
Members of the CAF mission in Libya include Sudanese Moujdi Chamsedinne, Tunisian Tarek al-Chimawi, Egyptian Issam Ahmed and Guinean Almamy Kabele Camara.
