College Assures Zero Tolerance On Cultism
The Rivers State College of Health Science and Technology(RIVCOHST), Port Harcourt, has reaffirmed its commitment towards the sustenance of the policy of zero tolerance to cultism, as a measure of enhancing high academic excellence in the school.
The Provost of the College, Dr Nnanna Onyekwere, disclosed this Friday, in an interview with newsmen in his office during the 2012/2013 matriculation ceremony of the institution.
The provost said the management of the institution has worked had to put in place conducive environment for academic activities in the institution, and called on the students to take advantage of the opportunities provided.
He also appealed for the support of parents as stakeholders in development of the college, through moderation and control over the students activities.
The provost further disclosed that the institution had added Biomedical Technology course to boost the skills of its students towards self employment, and urged the students to make judicious use of the programme.
771 student participated in the matriculation ceremony having certified admission procedures, through the college internal examinations, Joint and Matriculation; Board, JAMB, and College Foundation Programmes.
The provost also stated that measures had been put in place to improve the living condition of students, through improved health care, better accommodation and security.
He called on the Rivers State Government to constitute a proper governing board for the institution to enhance accreditation of more courses by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
He particularly advised the new intakes to take their studies seriously as the institution is poised to promote academic excellence in the state.
