TUC Boss Tasks Nigerians On Credible Leaders
The Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Rivers Chapter, Mr Chika Onuegbu, has said that only Nigerians can change the country for good by electing credible leaders.
He told newsmen in Port Harcourt last Thursday that the opportunity had come to vote out suspected, corrupt and incompetent candidates.
Onuegbu, therefore, urged Nigerians to vote for candidates they could trust to address the challenges of poverty, inequality and unemployment.
The chairman advised the people to avoid the temptation of voting based on ethnic or religious sentiments.
He said: “This is the time to rise and fight for social justice as there cannot be any sustainable peace without social justice.
“Nigerians should display courage and determination to end the evil of electoral fraud and corruption by ensuring that their votes count,” he said.
Onuegbu said that poverty among Nigerians was because of injustices meted out to them by their fellow country men and women who allegedly stole and wasted opportunities through corruption and inefficiency.
According to him, corruption and inefficiency in governance in Nigeria have led to the unprecedented level of poverty and unemployment witnessed today across the country.
