Mmom Unveils Mentorship School In Rivers
The Rivers State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Prince Chinedu Mmom, has charged Nigerians to be focused and unwavering in the pursuit of their life goals even if they fail in their attempts to get to the peak of their careers.
Mmom gave the charge yesterday in Port Harcourt while performing the unveiling of the Girl Power Africa International, a mentorship and talent school.
He said one needed to get focused and do not allow other things to be a distraction in pursuit of individual’s life goals.
“The problem with most of us is that we lose focus. Today, I am where I am because I am focused on what I want in life. You can make it if you believe in yourself and remain focused. Do not be afraid to fail, once you are afraid to fail, you will not succeed”, he said.
He expressed satisfaction with the initiative of the founder of the Girl Power Africa International , Amb Belema Afiesimama, for her initiatives, progress and achievements made so far.
“There is always a reward when you mentor people. There are people we look up to. The joy of a mentor is that his mentees are doing well. I am very excited being here today for this programme. So, I want to thank Amb Belema Afiesimama for her progress and doggedness.
“Finally, to the glory of God and to the service of God, I hereby perform the unveiling of the Girl Power Africa International Mentorship and Talent School”
Earlier in her address of welcome , the founder, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Girl Power Africa International, Amb Belema Afiesimama, averred that the purpose and mission of the school are to mentor people for life as well as build for them to follow God’s principles in life .“The mission of this school is to mentor people for life as well as build them for God. In fact, the mission of this school is to mentor people with light and truth and to build talents for God”.
She pointed out that the initiative to launch the NGO began in 2003, about 10 years ago, adding that her mandate was to discover hidden talents.
“One of our mandates is to discover budding or hidden talents. There are talents everywhere but the issue now is to discover and nurture them. Indeed, we have deemed it necessary to bring out talents of young people who will serve mankind”
She stated that one of the talented persons that emerged and won the best talents show of her NGO in 2003 was now in Vietnam, adding that she has a mandate to empower people through mentoring to enable them realised their goals in life.
Afiesimama explained that part of their vision is to use the Girl Power Africa International Mentorship and Talent School to bring people out of ignorance, using their talents to single them out for excellence and stardom. “Our vision is to use light and truth to bring people out of ignorance using their talents to single them out for excellence and stardom”.
Also speaking, Apostle Caro Ogbo, said since the focus of the NGO is on Africa, the place of the African continent is assured.
“With the focus and priority of Girl Power Africa International Mentorship and Talents School being focused on the Africans and Africa, it means that Africa has a place in the world,” she said.
