Anglican Church Creates New Archdeaconries In Rivers
The Diocese of Niger Delta Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion has created two new Archdeaconries in Rivers State.
The new Archdeaconries include; the Bille Missionary Archdeaconry with headquarters at St. Jude Church, Bille in Degema Local Government Area and Bonny East Archdeaconry with headquarters at St. John’s Church Bishop Johnson’s Street, Port Harcourt.
Bishop of the Diocese, Rt. Rev. Ralph Ebirien who disclosed this at the second session of the 23rd Synod of the Diocese at Krakrama in the Asari Toru Local Government Area, who said that the new Archdeaconries which take off June this year was part of the Diocese’s programme to spread the gospel of Christ.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen, Vicar of St. Jude Church Bille, Rev. Canon Ataisi J. Oyet said the creation of the Bille Missionary Archdeaconry was in line with the aspirations of thousands of Christian faithful in the Bille Kingdom.
Rev. Canon Oyet said that the development would lead to the spread of Christianity in the Kingdom and beyond.
Also speaking, Elder Adokiye Brown Branah said that St Jude Church which serves as the headquarters of the Church was founded since 1881, stressing that faithful of the Church and the Christian community in Bille are happy with the new development.
Also speaking the Vicar of St. John’s Church Port Harcourt, Ven. Michael Uranta said that the Church was happy with the creation of the new Bonny East Archdeaconry.
He said that the Church would put in place structure for the take-off of the new Archdeaconry.
