Coordinator Tasks Corps Members On Entrepreneurship
The Adamawa State (NYSC) Coordinator, Malam Abub- akar Mohammed, has advised members of the 2018 Batch “B” corps members posted to Adamawa State to properly utilise the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme of the scheme to become self-employed after the service year.
Mohammed made the call, Friday at the end of the programme for batch B corps members at Damare Orientation Camp near Yola.
He said many past corps members who utilised the skills they learnt under the programme had become self-employed.
The coordinator, who observed that some corps members were showing lukewarm attitude towards the training, said such corps members needed to face the reality that entrepreneurship was the only sure way to employment and economic greatness.
“Agreed, you went to school and graduated with an impressive result. But the fact remains that the labour market is long over saturated with uncountable unemployed graduates.
“I must, therefore, tell you that venturing into entrepreneurship is the only guarantee for our youths to attain economic autonomy.
“This is why NYSC introduced SAED in 2012; I am pleased to inform you that many graduates who took part in this training and utilised it properly since inception have become millionaires.”
He urged the corps members that took part in the training to try and locate training centres at their places of primary assignment so as to further perfect their skills before the end of the service year.
The highlight of the occasion was the exhibition of various products made by the corps members who participated in the training.
