Road Crashes: FRSC Trains MDAs’ Drivers
The Federal Road Safety
Commission (FRSC) on Saturday trained Ministries, Departments and Agencies drivers for safety cautiousness and better service delivery.
The Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, said that the training was sequel to a directive from the Federal Government.
Represented by Dr Kayode Olagunju, Assistant Corps Marshal, Head, Policy, Research and Statistics, Oyeyemi said that the training will go a long way in reducing accidents on the highways.
“This is in response to the President’s directive that all Federal Government drivers must be trained.
“We are training those driving political appointees, senior government officials to improve their driving skills,’’ he said.
He said that because of the large number of drivers involved, they had decided to group them in batches, and the first batch was underway.
Oyeyemi explained further that they also decided to group them in order not to affect their routine jobs.
The FRSC boss said that the training was geared towards improving their capabilities and competence level.
He urged the participants not to indulge in any form of activities that were capable of disturbing and distracting them while driving.
“We believe that many of the crashes were quite avoidable, and that many of those we have recorded so far can be avoided.
“ This can only happen if you all adhere strictly to roads signs, regulations and other things that will make our road accidents free,’’ he said.
He said that the training was also aimed at checking their health and making sure that they have good eye sights, the right blood pressure that will aid their driving.
