‘Don’t Let Nne Kurubo School Die’
The Chief Executive
Officer (CEO) of Ambassador Nne Kurubo Secondary School, Ebubu, Eleme Local Government Area, Mr Shantaram Hegdekatte, has appealed to the Rivers State Government not to allow the institution to die.
Mr Hegdekatte, who made the appeal during an interview with The Tide in his office at the school said that it would be morally wrong to let the school built with tax payers money to waste.
He said that his company, Educomp Solution Nigeria Limited had the intention to make the school a model and a legacy that the state would have been proud of, pointing out that the cost of running the school went through due process.
“Our intention is to run the school in a way that quality education is given to the students and ensure they make very good results”, Hegdekatte said, adding that the school was a veritable investment if run on commercial basis.
He suggested that the school be given out on private / public partnership so that government can get benefit of the money invested there, pointing out that lack of quality education and employment was the bane of the country.
Mr Hegdekatte who said the management of the school was not taking any sides in politics as a foreigner, cautioned against politicizing the institution as it would be detrimental to the educational growth of the state.
“We are foreigners and we cannot take sides in politics. They should not play politics with the school”, he stressed, noting that it was not true that he refused to hand over the school to the state government.
According to him, “we are willing to hand over the school as soon as the government pays the money owed us, we mean well for the school and the state”.
