Kano To Assist GSM Market Fire Victims
The Kano State Govern
ment last Friday promised to assist victims of the recent fire disaster at Farm Centre GSM Market in Kano city.
The state Commissioner for Special Duties, retired Gen. Idris Dambazau, gave the assurance in an interview with newsmen in Kano.
According to him, about 1,010 traders were affected while goods worth N407 million were destroyed during the incident.
Dambazau assured the affected traders that the state government would soon come to their aid in order to cushion the effect of their sufferings.
He disclosed that the state government had concluded arrangement to assist the 61 victims of Asada Market fire disaster who also lost goods worth over N153 million during the inferno.
He said the state Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation Agency (SERERA) had submitted its assessment report on the incident to the state government for necessary action.
“SERERA has visited the market and has since forwarded its assessment report to government for necessary action,’’ he said.
Dambazau urged victims of the two fire disasters to be patient as the state government was making effort to support them to continue with their businesses.
