NGO Donates 3m Books, Furniture To Schools In Edo
A Port-Harcourt based
Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Abass Khalid Foundation has donated three million notebooks and writing materials to primary schools in Etsako West local government area of Edo. The foundation also donated chairs and desks to the schools.
Presenting the items to the benefiting schools, founder of the foundation, Mr Mutairu Adamu, urged governments at all levels to invest in education in order to guarantee the future of the youths.
“We need to invest directly in our children because the future of our country is in the hands of the children.
“The foundation is out to support parents and governments to eradicate poverty in the education sector,’’ he said.
According to him, the aim of our gesture is to support the provision of conducive learning environment for children and reduce the burden of buying books on parents.
Adamu said that the donation was part of the foundation’s commitment to improving educational standard at the primary school level.
He said that the foundation’s desire was to fund education related programmes at the rural level.
“Building solid educational advancement at the primary school level is one of my priorities.
“A major step to achieving this goal is to promote high quality education, which is rare in the rural areas,’’ he said.
Some of the benefitting schools were Akpekpe Model Primary School, Ukpekpe; Aibotse Primary School, Auchi; Igbe Primary School; Usokwili Primary School, Usokwili; Ehei Primary School, Ehei; Uchi Primary School, Uchi, and Utsogun Primary School.
