Union Blames TIMARIV Crisis On Managerial Incompetence
The Rivers State Traffic
Management Agency (TIMARIV) branch of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE), has blamed the problem of TIMARIV on lack of managerial competence on the part of the management.
In a petition addressed to the Rivers State Governor and copied to the Secretary to the State Government, the Rivers State Commissioner for Transport and his Information counterpart as well as the various security agencies, the union described as laughable claim by the Acting Comptroller-General that members were instigated to march on the streets of Port Harcourt.
The union also said that the issue of staff integration and regularisation would be pursued with all sense of caution and humility as against “the cruel and aggressive manner the ACG had always requested we adopt to enable him get the required attention from government”.
It also described as false, claims that the union disparaged the management and Government of Rivers State, adding that it was not true that the management paid compensation to the families of the deceased staff of the agency.
The union also accused the management of high level corruption, alleging the remittance of 80 percent of the Agency’s proceeds to masquerading contractors.
However in a petition earlier addressed to the State Chairman of AUPCTRE, the Acting Comptroller General of the agency, Mr. Confidence Eke blamed the crisis on indiscipline, insurbodination and instigation of staff to march on the streets by the branch Chairman of the union.
“I want to bring to your notice that Mr. Igenewari Ketuphel summons officers of the Authority to the Headquarters located at No. 4 Moscow Road without notifying management and frequently holds press conferences where he disparages and verbally abuses the management and the state Government”, he said.
