ANLCA Urges Support For FG’s Policy
The Association of
Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has urged support for the Federal governemnt’s automobile policy.
Speaking to The Tide in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, the Association’s Chairman, Comrade Emeka Orjiafor, said the automobile policy would fast track rapid development of the sector.
Orjiafor said the Association was in support of the policy to reduce the import of cars into the country, adding that the policy will facilitate indigenous industrialis ation and development.
He said the Federal Government’s Policy was timely and a step in the right direction to ensure that necessary support is given to indigenous manufacturers to expand their expertise in vehicle assembly and manufacturing.
The ANCLA boss said waiver should be granted the sector to enable it meet up their basic needs stressing that since other sectors such as hospitality, power, aviation, agricultural machinery, solid minerals equipment, gas using equipment steel etc, have benefited the automobile sector should not be exception among other needs.
He said there are other programmes designed to promote non-oil exports which waivers have been granted them.
He said the automobile sector is a strategic area which can stimulate growth support diversification of the nation’s economy and create million of jobs for the unemployed youth.
