NigComsat Boss Tasks Confab Delegates On Security System
The Deputy General Man
ager, Technical, NigComsat, Mr Danjuma Ndihgihdah, has pleaded with members of the ongoing National Confab to promote a government policy that would direct all security agencies to key into the National Public Security and communications Service (NPSCS) for their communications services.
He made the appeal while presenting a paper to the National Conference Committee on Science and Technology in Abuja, recently.
The news which was monitored in Port Hracourt, quoted Ndihgihdah as saying that the NPSCS project was initiated by the federal government in a bid to reduce the security challenges in the country.
He explained that the system was based on a technology with wireless video surveillance services that covered all the 36 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory in its first phase.
He further noted that it has a five core sub-system capable of providing communications and tracking capacity for the Nigeria Police Force and other security operatives.
According to him, the company was in partnership with Netlink Technologies Limited, adding that they had recorded a lot of progress towards the provision of security communications as a service through the use of the NPSCS network and Nig- Comsat-R.
He also said that the NigComSat-R, was a hybrid satellite with full capacity to provide ubiquitous broadband service that will guarantee full functioning of mostgovernments programmes.
The NigComsat hench man, pointed out that if the system was carefully followed, that it will among other things, provide a secure network against the backdrop of leasing capacity from international vendors.
He also informed that the plan had reached its crescendo for network expansion using NigComsat-R and upgrade from CDMAEV-DO for Long Term Evolution (LTE).
Earlier, he had said that the sytem would provide a high speed data to accommodate the needs for all agencies in the country.
