NGO, Journalists Partner On ICT Dev
A Non-Governmental
Organisation (NCO) under the agies of Symbolic Love Foundation (SLF), said that it has concluded plans to partner journalists in Rivers State on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) development.
The President of the group, Ambassador Chinda Ogbuji, said this in an exclusive interview with The Tide, in Port Harcourt Wednesday.
He said that the aim was to encourage reports and editors alike in electronic reporting and ICT development.
Ogbuji pointed out that the likely items may include digital still camera, voice recorder and some set of computers/palm tops.
According to him, reporters in the state deserve better working tools not only to improve on their jobs, but to meet up with the 21st century journalism practice.
He explained that in less than no time, reporters with analogue tools may not find it funny to operate, saying that analogue system is gradually phasing out.
The philantropist, also promised to sponsor the training of some journalists in the state in the areas of ICT/Telecom fields, adding that they may likely be the first set to benefit from the system.
He explained that journalism as a profession needs to have all round support both from the government and private sector due to their contribution in nation-building.
Meanwhile, he has called on all media managers in the state, to be more proactive as to ensure that they do not water down the level of journalism in the state, as he lauded them over the unwavering support for the state government.
