Police Boss Lauds Amaechi’s Assistance To Security Agencies
The Rivers State Commissioner of Police,
Mr. Mohammed Indabawa, has praised Gov. Chibuike Amaechi for assisting security
agencies in the state.
Indabawa said in Port Harcourt last Thursday that Amaechi had introduced a policy
of assisting families or dependents of serving police personnel who lost their
lives while on duty.
He said Amaechi’s administration last week
presented N1million in cheque to each of the families of the 23 police officers
who lost their lives in the state in the last two years.
“If there is any incident where a policeman
died in the course of his duty, either going to work and he had an accident or
he is shot and killed in the course of his duty, the governor has promised to
give that family N1 million at least to assist them before they get their
benefits.
“In line with that promise, last week we
gave out 23 cheques to 23 families who lost their loved ones in the course of
duty in this state.’’
Indabawa said the state government also
paid the medical bills of police officers who sustained injury while on duty.
“We lack words to express our regards to
the governor. He has been so wonderful to the security agencies. He is also
concerned and worried about the country’s security and economy. “He is also
concerned about illegal bunkering and its effect on the economy.’’ He said.
The police boss said the command was doing
its best to reduce the crime wave in the state and appealed to the people to be
security conscious at all times and to report any suspicious activity to the
relevant security agencies.
