Ghana To Partner Nigeria On West Africa Trade Promotion
The Ghana Export Promotion Authority says it is exploring the possibility of partnering with the Nigerian entrepreneurs to boost trade in the West African sub-region.
The Principal Export Development Officer of the agency, Mr Erasmus Ashun, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen on Saturday at the ongoing 25th edition of the Lagos International Trade Fair.
Ashun said that trade, if well explored, could bring the two countries closer together.
“It is the objective of the Ghanaian Government that we forge strong relationship with our Nigerian counterparts,” he said, adding that about 70 Ghanaian companies were participating at the fair as against 30 in 2010.
He said that some of the participants were drawn from the fruit juice industries, microfinance institutions, ICT, clothing and artifacts.
Ashun expressed the hope that the companies would enjoy patronage to justify their participation in the fair.
“Most of our goods just arrived today because the Nigeria Customs Service made sure that we provided samples of all the products we were bringing to the fair,” Ashun said.
The trade fair, which opened on November 4, will end on November13.
The theme of the fair is: “Increasing competitiveness of Nigerian products in the global market.”
