Dame Judith Wants Workers To Vote Credible Candidates
Ahead of the April general elections, civil servants in Rivers State have been urged to participate in the voters validation exercise to vote credible candidates.
Wife of the Rivers State Governor, Dame Judith Amaechi stated this Monday during First Rivers State Civil Service prayer and dedication service at the State Secretariat Complex in Port Harcourt.
She said civil servants are a very significant segment of the state whose electoral decision will affect the emergence of credible leadership in the state.
According to her III want to urge you to register and vote because you are a very important segment of the citizenry”.
The governor’s wife challenged members of the state workforce to support the state government programme and policies initiated to lift the state to an enviable height, adding that the civil servants remain the cornerstone and lubricant in the wheel of good governance.
Mrs Amaechi urged the Rivers workers to pray for peace and stability as the nation moves towards April general election. “We must remember that no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of insecurity and rancor.
It is therefore imperative that we join hands together to pray for peace and security of the state and nation, especially at this crucial period of our nascent democracy”.
She called for the support of the civil servants in implementing government programmes.’ “As the engine room of government, I urge you to remain obedient, loyal and committed to your duties bearing in mind that without exhibiting these qualities, no government can achieve its goals and objectivesll.
Earlier, the Head of Service, Mrs Esther Anucha said the prayer rally was instituted to dedicate the civil service and the workers to God in its quest to achieve their objectives .
Intercessory prayers were taken for the state and the first family among others.
