LP Holds Rivers Guber Primary ’Morrow
The Labour Party (LP), Rivers State chapter will hold its gubernatorial primary election tomorrow to decide who becomes its flag bearer at the April gubernatorial election in the state.
Chairman of Rivers LP Prince Felix Reuben-Favour who disclosed this in an interview with The Tide in Abuja said all is set for the primary slated for ‘Labour House’ in D-line, Port Harcourt.
Prince Favour who was in Abuja for the party’s National Convention said about four aspirants are expected to contest the primary, with delegates list of 500 and 21 drawn from each of the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State.
The Rivers chairman of Labour Party expressed the hope that the primary which will be held under the supervision of the National Executive committee (NEC) of the party as represented by the office of the National Financial Secretary will produce the best aspirant as candidate for the April gubernatorial election in the state.
Prince Favour warned that any aspirant implemented in thuggery and possession of dangerous weapons or disturb the peace would be disqualified automatically, saying that the party would not condone violence in any form. He said there is no anointed aspirant.
The Labour Party is set for the primary, and indeed the general elections. We’re mobilising the whole labour force. We believe the Federal Government in organising credible election.
Labour Party is set to take over governance at the state and federal levels, so our message to the public is: ‘come and register for the elections at the registration of voters’ exercise; that’s the only power you have to vote at the elections,” Prince Favour said.
