Monarch Decries Rising Corruption In Nigeria
A royal father in Rivers State and Head of Chief Saturday Jaja War Canoe House, in King Jaja group of houses, Opobo, Alabo Reuben Mietamuno Saturday Jaja, has condemned the persistent level of corruption in Nigeria.
He expressed dismay that despite the ongoing anti-corruption fight of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government, cases of corrupt practices and forgery were still on the increase in the country.
Alabo Jaja used the medium to task President Tinubu and his administration not to hide any corrupt official in his cabinet, if the war against corruption will succeed.
“I urge Mr. President to fish out all the corrupt officials under his canopy and allow them to defend themselves of any alleged corrupt practices preferred against them.
“Many of our leaders failed us because of the wealth and resources in their kitty. Let the President, if truly he is a God- fearing leader, expose those of his Ministers and others to account for the tax-payers money they embezzled while in office, instead of covering them.
“With such people, the quest for his government to rid the country of corruption and criminality won’t see the light of the day”, he said.
Jaja, a member of the Opobo/Nkoro Council of Traditional Rulers, also called on the former Governor of Rivers State and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, and his faction and that of his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, to cease-fire over their political differences rocking the Rivers State since last October.
“I, therefore, advise all warring factions in the upheavals to allow the peace enjoyed in the state previously and now to continue to grow.
“We should allow Governor Siminalayi Fubara a breathing space to provide the people with democracy dividends”, Alabo he said.
