Nkoros Celebrate Linking Of Community To National Grid
The chiefs and the entire people of Nkoro kingdom in Opobo/Nkoro local government area of Rivers state have expressed their appreciation to God and Governor Siminalayi Fubara for the linking of the community to the national grid
Across sections of the chiefs and people of Nkoro who spoke to newsmen during the Nkoro National Annual Thanksgiving service 2023 at Nkoro main town Opobo/Nkoro local government area of Rivers state attributed the development to the handiwork of God
They noted that since the beginning of the thanksgiving service in 2009 when the community was first linked by road,a lot of developments have been withnessed in the community.
According to the secretary of the Kirike Gospel Ministers Council Association pastor Tamunosa Fikinigomari, God has been faithful to the land , adding that Nkoro kingdom is not only linked to road but also to the National grid
According to him, “if my grandmother who died in the year 2022 was told that a celebration like this will happen in the year 2023,,I am sure that she will not believe it
“Like we have acess to road, good water supply, right now we have NEPA light in our community” he said.
Fikinigomari who was secretary, planning committee for the Thanksgiving service, said his people can drive from any part of the country to Nkoro.
He also said the community is now abundant with professors and other caliber of educationally qualified persons.
Also speaking Chief Richard Nyako who spoke on behalf of the Nkoro Council of Alapu said despite being minority, the people have a lot to thank God for.
He said the community has produced two House of Assembly Members including the current member representing Opobo/ Nkoro in the Rivers state House of Assembly and a member of the Federal House of Representatives.
He said God has been faithful to the people that despite living in the midst of bigger ethnic groups, Nkoro has continued to wax stronger in the scheme of things.
Also speaking Sir MinawariDiepriye who chaired the thanksgiving service urged the people to embrace God with their whole hearts
“There is no way Nkoro kingdom can starved to death when they are living with God
Sir Minawari said having produced two houses of Assembly Members and a House of Representatives member in the past, Nkoro is blessed, but added that time has come for the political leaders of Opobo /Nkoro local government area to allow Nkoro produced the next Executive Chairman of the OpoboNkoro local government area.
According to him, Governor Siminalaye Fubara can in his wisdom tell Opobians to allow power shift to Nkoro.
He also appealed for the construction of internal roads and drainages.
On his part the vice president Kirike gospel Ministers Council of Nkoro catechist Benedict Kobringo said the programme was initiated by the Chiefs in conjunction with the Kirike Gospel Ministers Council.
He said the service was to thank God for His wonderful works in Nkoro kingdom, adding that the community has attracted abundant blessings from God since the inception of the thanksgiving service since the year 2009.
On her part, Woman leader of Nkoro kingdom Mrs Salome Idatoru called for the empowerment of women in the kingdom.
She said this can be done through skill acquisition programme as well as soft loans to women in the kingdom.
Also speaking one of the councillors representing Nkoro in the Opobo/Nkoro legislative Assembly, Hon. Ibibia Miller said God has been faithful to the Nkoro kingdom by providing what the people need.
Guest preacher, Bishop William Daka said the Kingdom will witness more greatness in the future.
The service was attended by people from all walks of life.

Rivers Deputy Governor Hails PH City One Love For Humanitarian Gesture
Rivers state Deputy Governor Professor Ngozi Nma Odu has commended “The Port Harcourt City One Love,”a Port Harcourt based humanitarian orgnisation For it’s commitment towards alleviating the sufferings of the poor and vulnerable in the society.
Professor Ngozi Nma Odu said this while speaking at this year’s edition of “operation feed the needy” a yearly outreach program of “The Port Harcourt City One Love ” in Port Harcourt.
The Deputy Governor said by feeding more than sixty thousands hungry people within the past six years, the Port Harcourt City One Love Movement has distinguished itself as a club that cares for the less privilege in the society.
She commended the , organization for listing eleven thousand persons to be fed in the current exercise.
Meanwhile The Port Harcourt City One Love has planned a permanent solution to the problem of feeding the poor in the state.
The leader of the group Mr Idaere Gogo Ogan who said this in an interview with newsmen during the distribution of food items to the poor and vulnerables in Port Harcourt said the organization is planning a permanent food kitchen where poor and vulnerable persons can work in anytime and get fed.
Idaere Gogo Ogan said more than sixty thousands poor and vulnerable persons across Port Harcourt City and environs have been fed since the inception of “The operation feed the needy” program six years ago,adding that so far sixty thousands poor and vulnerable persons have beneffited.
He described the group as a platform to promote friendship, brotherhood, community development empathy and feeding the less privilege and hungry people
“That’s what we are doing today here,so we started the exercise six years ago”.he said.
Ogan said the effort was a private sector driven initiative but added “it also involves people in Government because the platform does not recognize any division,we bring everybody together in unity , friendship and brotherhood”he said.
He said the effort will go along way in alleviating hunger especially following the prevailing hunger in the country.
According to him “you know the country is very tough, people are hungry people are starving, there is a whole lot of economic hardship,so for us, this is just our own way of reaching out, our own social contribution to what is very difficult”he said.
Over eleven thousand persons were fed in the just concluded exercise.
Areas of coverage include, Isaac Boro park, Port Harcourt prison/Macoba, Borokiri/Enugu waterside Bundu areas Waterlines and others.
Some of the beneficiaries including an 80 years old widow commended the movement for the annual programm and urged other organizations to emulate them
