Fubara’s Resilient, Not Noise Maker -Johnson

Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Warisenibo Joseph Johnson, has said that Governor Siminalayi Fubara is resilient and committed to the development of the State.
Johnson said this during an interaction with the executive of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), in Port Harcourt, last Friday.
The chapel had visited the commissioner to present him with an invitation ahead of their forthcoming Correspondents’ Week in December.
The commissioner assured the chapel of cooperation with journalists, especially representatives of the national dailies in the state.
He also promised to always key into laudable programmes of the group.
According to him, the synergy will assist to reduce unverified news reports about the government.
“Governor Siminalayi Fubara is not loud but very strong and resilient; he is committed to the development of the state.
“Therefore, we must be able to bond as a family because if we keep bikkering and thinking we are impressing the public with unverified and embellished reportage, we end up hurting our very existence by scaring away potential investors,” he said.
Johnson also said that he was planning a visit to the state commissioner of police to make some appeals and urged the Police to rejig its crime fighting strategies.
“I will plead with the police to stop parading suspected criminals and allow room for adjudication, as such parades rather created stigma on the status of the state and affected individuals, whether proven guilty or otherwise by competent courts.
“My second appeal would be that the police stop roadblocks; it’s a lot easier catching a criminal in the act than letting them know that the police had sited a roadblock to hunt them down.
“The police should begin to rejig their entire crime fighting strategies because when crime is reduced, the state will enjoy a more positive ambiance for business and development,” the commissioner added.
Earlier, Chairman of the chapel, Mr Amaechi Okonkwo, commended the commissioner for his willingness to collaborate, and promised to uphold the relationship in line with the ethics of journalism.

HoS Hails Fubara Over Provision of Accommodation for Permanent Secretaries

The Head of Service (HoS) of Rivers State, Dr. Mrs. Inyingi S. I. Brown, has commended Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, for approving befitting accommodation for Permanent Secretaries in the state.

This commendation was contained in a press release made available to newsmen in Port Harcourt.

According to the Head of Service, Governor Fubara has continued to demonstrate uncommon commitment to the welfare of civil servants in Rivers State, stressing that such gestures underscore his people-oriented leadership style. She urged civil servants across the state to remain supportive of the governor’s administration in order to sustain good governance and effective public service delivery.

Speaking on behalf of the Body of Permanent Secretaries, Dr. Brown congratulated Governor Fubara on the occasion of his 51st birthday, describing him as “a Governor who leads by serving.”

She further praised the governor’s service-driven and people-centred leadership approach, noting that it has significantly contributed to institutional stability and improved efficiency within the state’s public service. As part of activities to mark the governor’s birthday, the Body of Permanent Secretaries announced the sponsorship of 329 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms for indigent students across the state.

A breakdown of the initiative shows that 319 forms will be distributed across the 319 political wards in Rivers State, while five forms are allocated to non-indigenes and five forms to persons living with disabilities.
