NGO Harps On Converting Waste To Wealth
A Non-governmental organisation under the auspices of ‘Women Rights and Empowerment Initiative (WORI), says the possibility of creating wealth from waste as well as using renewable energy to adapt and mitigate the challenges of climate change is achievable when people are armed with the necessary tools.
Executive Director of WORI, Dr Cynthia Onwuka, stated this during a workshop on ‘Dissertation of Resource Materials on Waste to Wealth Value Chain and Renewable Energy Practices’ in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
He said the workshop would strengthen and broaden the involvement and participation of beneficiaries and also strengthen the relationships between the project partners to achieve the expected results.
The project funded by the European Union under the EU-ACT programme, has several components such as Stakeholders Consultation, Town Hall Meetings, among others.
WORI, which is a member of Climate Action Consortium, has been part of the ongoing implementation of a project titled ‘creating awareness and institutional capacity on climate change adaptation and mitigation.
Dr Onwuka added that the Climate Action Consortium would effectively transfer project results to target beneficiaries for optimal exploitation.
