NYSC Boss Charges Members On Unity, Harmony
The Acting Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs Christy Ifeyinwa Uba, has charged corps members on a culture of working together in an atmosphere of friendship, peace and harmony.
She stated this in an address to mark the Swearing-In Ceremony of the 2022 Batch C, Stream 2 Corps Members.
Represented by the Rivers State Coordinator of the scheme, George Mfongang, at the State Permanent Orientation Camp, Nonwa-Gbam, Tai, Uba noted that the corps members were the future leaders of the nation and stressed the need for an earlier exhibition of the culture of unity in their national service.
According to her, the corps members have a significant influence on Nigeria through high patriotism, discipline and hardwork in the service year and beyond.
Uba stated that corps members were known for their patriotic disposition and readiness for selfless service to their fatherland, urging the present batch to uphold the values and ideals of the noble scheme in all that they do.
The Acting DG further encouraged the corps members to take advantage of the opportunities in the NYSC scheme’s Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program in order to become self employed.
While noting that white collar jobs were no longer readily available, Uba said the scheme provided the opportunity for corps members to forge ahead economically after the service year.
