JAMB Implements Curriculum Automation, Accreditation
As part of its effort to implement curriculum automation, accreditation and eliminate bureaucracy, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has commenced training on the use of Interactive e-Brochure and e-Syllabus System (IBASS) across the six geopolitical zone of the country.
The training, which has administrative staff of tertiary institutions in attendance including Vice Chancellors, Provosts and Rectors, was introduced in November 2022, as full automation of its administration and other communication processes.
Speaking in Abuja last Monday during the North Central training, the board registrar, Ishaq Olarewaju Oloyede, who explained that “in the past, institutions had to travel down to JAMB office to brief it on the status of its programs and accreditation status, added that with the use of IBASS tertiary institutions would no longer have to come to the board for programme accreditation or admission processes.”
While announcing January 2023 as the commencement of the new policy, Oloyede noted that the board would no longer receive physical letter from any institution or agency except through IBASS.
“Communication between NUC, NBTE, NCCE on one hand and the institution on the other hand and in some cases with JMAB have been very chaotic and unnecessarily wasteful because the institution will have to come all the way from maybe Port Harcourt or Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria to say this programme has been accredited or introduced for us,” Oloyede said.
