EFCC Partners NUJ On Fight Against Financial Crimes
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it cannot make progress in tackling financial crimes in the country without collaborating with journalists.
Zonal Commander of the Commission, Port Harcourt Zonal Office, Mr. Nwanneka Nwokike, who made the assertion while playing host to executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State Council, said the commission is always willing to give vital information to journalists that would impact on the society.
Nwokike condemned the attitude of greed displayed by the younger generation, which, he said, has led to increase in financial crimes, and enjoined Nigerians to condemn the crave for money by the younger generation, while correcting and guiding them on the right path of life.
The EFCC boss promised to be part of the NUJ Happy Hour programme to create room for more interaction with journalists in the State.
Earlier, the Vice Chairman of the NUJ Rivers State, Mr. Okechukwu Maru, who led the State Working committee on a courtesy visit to the commission’s Zonal Office in the State, called for synergy between the Commission and the union in the State.
Mr. Maru implored the Commission to report any journalist found wanting in their line of duty to the NUJ State Council.
The high point of the visit was the presentation of plaque to NUJ Rivers State Council by the EFCC Zonal Commander, Port Harcourt.
