RSG Summons Principals Of GGSS, Rumuokwuta Over Alleged Extortion
The Rivers State Commissioner of Education, Prof. Prince Chinedu Mmom, has summoned the principals of both the senior and junior arms of the Government Girls Secondary School, Rumuokwuta in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state to report to the ministry immediately over alleged extortion.
Mmom gave the directive, yesterday, while monitoring secondary schools in the state.
In a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Commissioner on Media and Publicity, Robinson Hamilton, Mmom frowned at the refusal of few principals to heed the directive of the ministry to desist from extorting parents and guardians under any guise.
He maintained that it was criminal for any principal to impose any levy whatsoever on parents, subjecting students to pay for stamped foolscap sheets for purposes of writing examinations.
