OSPAC Commander Warns Against IPOB Invasion
The ONELGA Security Peace and Advisory Council (OSPAC) Commander in Oyigbo, Emetonjor Isaiah, has warned against an invasion in Rivers State by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Saying that “it would be disastrous if IPOB is allowed entrance into Oyigbo”, he called on government at all levels to equip the local vigilante to be able to safely check any criminal group.
According to him, there are already indications that plans are on to invade the State through Oyigbo.
He said though the local vigilante has the force to withstand them, they have logistic challenges.
“We are ready to do the job, but the issue is that we need more necessary tools such as motor bike, dane guns and other necessary tools to chase them at any point in time”, he said.
He noted that “it was impossible to challenge someone carrying sophisticated arms, no matter how many you are”.
The OSPAC Commander, who revealed this recently during conferment of an “Award of Excellence for Fight Against Crime” on him, by a group, “Coalition of Support for Democracy and Good Governance”, stated that the local vigilante has been doing “tremendously well by apprehending kidnappers and other criminals”.
Assuring on the preparedness of Oyigbo OSPAC to sanitise the area, Isaiah said “adequate steps need to be taken to avoid the impending danger”.
Isaiah, a retired Police Officer, commended the group for finding him worthy of the honour.
In his speech, the Coordinator of the group, Comrade Bob Achor, said the group had a mandate to identify and encourage individuals who have done well in various fields of endeavour.
He said based on Isaiah’s milestones in instituting security, the group decided to spur him to do more by giving for him the award.
“The enormous sacrifices made by the local vigilante in keeping peace at Oyigbo deserve commendation”, he said.
He called on government at all levels to reciprocate the sacrificial efforts of the group to achieve more in the State.
