Council Trains 4,000 Youths, Provides Free Medical Services
The Ogba/Egbema/ Ndoni Local Government Council has trained over 4,000 youths across the entire local government on various skills in the last one year.
The skills acquisition programme was facilitated by the local government in conjunction with Afrinet and Bank of Agriculture.
The Chairman of the council, Hon.Vincent Job, who stated this while rendering his one year account of stewardship to the people at the council’s headquarters in Omoku, said his administration within one year initiated a free medical intervention for adults from age 60 and above.
Job said the council supported the ongoing adult literacy programme to boost the literacy level of the people of the aera.
The chairman added that his administration in the last one year has also graded many roads and streets which were hitherto impassable while also constructing health center at Obakata Omoku.
“The council constructed security post at the council secretariat, provided three patrol vehicles, provided street lights to illuminate the streets at night and rehabilitated Okwuzi police station for the security of the people”, he said.
Job said the council within the last 365 days renovated Kreigani Primary School, paid for JAMB fee for over 200 candidates, awarded scholarship to indigent students in various communities and embarked on construction of six classroom block at Obuohia Omoku.
The chairman said the council also constructed refuse receptacles, Egbada bridge hand rail and other projects including sporting facilities within one year in office.
He promised to make good use of the little resources at his disposal to execute more people-oriented projects and programmes that would impact on the lives of the citizenry.
Job said security, sanitation and youth empowerment were key areas of focus of his administration in line with the mandate of Governor Nyesom Wike’s government.
