UPWA President Urges Youths, Parents To Preach Peace
The President of University of Port Harcourt Women Association ( UPWA), Dr. Udeme Owunari Georgewill, has advised youths and parents to always preach peace in the environment they live.
She stated that peace is the only panacea to deveploment and harmonious living, saying that youths should not allow themselves to be used in any negative way in the coming political dispensation.
Georgewill said this shortly after she was conferred an award of honour by the Coalition of Supporters of Democracy and Good Governance, at the weekend in Port Harcourt.
She charged the youths to embrace peace now that elections are close, urging the organisation to preach peace at all times. “ We need to speak to the youths on peace. We don’t want youths to sell themselves out so cheaply. The youths should understand that there is time for everything.
“Mothers need to pray for their children, they should not also push or force them out to engage in social vices that is enemical to the society and their future,” Georgewill said.
Georgewill, who is also the wife of the Vice Chancellor of the university , expressed joy over the honour done her, saying that it is a reward for hardwork and called on other groups to support the organisation.
Earlier, the Coordinator of the group, Comrade Achor Bob- Manuel, said the honour was done her, following her enormous contributions towards the wellbeing of humans and deveploment.
According to him, the society is in dire need of the likes of Dr Georgewill who has used her God- give opportunity to prove that women can do it better.” Her achievements within the period under review are enormous. I want to say that, the organisation which cuts across the 23 LGAs in the state will continue to support individuals and corporate bodies whose ideas are geared towards promoting the growth of humanity,” Bob-Manuel said.
