Police Nab Robbery Suspects, Criminal Syndicate In Rivers
Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have successfully arrested two members of an armed robbery syndicate that have been harassing and dispossessing the people of their properties after reacting to a distress call from residents of Rumuagholu Estate in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
The two suspects, Wisdom John aged 20years, and Anietie Stephen aged 26 years, both males, were apprehended, while two others narrowly escaped.
A statement by the command’sActing Public Relations Officer, GraceIringe-Koko said items recovered at the scene include various laptops and phones stolen from the residents, as well as a Volkswagen Golf car which was used for the operation by the suspects.
She also said that investigation was ongoing to arrest other fleeing suspects.
Similarly, operatives of the command arrested two suspects for receiving a stolen ash coloured Honda Accord belonging to the Rivers State Government.
The statement said that the vehicle, which was snatched at gunpoint by four armed men, at D/Line area of Port Harcourt, on April3, 2022, was recovered around Abuloma axis in Port Harcourt by the officers.
The statement further said the suspects, one SaiduAdamu aka AlhajiSani aged 30 years, and Mohammed Sani, aged 62 years, were arrested in possession of the stolen vehicle in the evening of the same day.
The Commissioner of Police, FridayEboka, assures that all hands are on deck to conclude investigations on both cases, arrest other suspects, and charge them to court.
He equally encourages members of the public to come forward to claim their stolen properties, with proof of ownership where necessary.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
