Ariolu Assures Sustained Synergy With Maritime Institution On Human Capital Dev

The authorities of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council have assured citizens of an improved partnership with the maritime institutions operating in the area to make room for further upgrade of youths in human capital development.
Chairman of the council, Barrister George Ariolu, who gave the assurance, also encouraged students to be more focused on their studies, urging the institution to continue to provide the right motivation for students to achieve excellent grades as they pursue success.
He made this disclosure during an address at the first matriculation/induction ceremony of Merchant-Navy Cadets of Charkin Maritime Academy in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, last Wednesday.
According to him, “the importance of Charkin Maritime Academy and the desires of government at both federal and state levels to promote skills acquisition and maritime technology in recent developments cannot be overemphasised.”
Accompanied by his Vice, Chinyere Agbara, the council boss reiterated his administration’s readiness to further partner the institution in the area of human capital development which informed the council’s decision to sponsor nine of the cadets in the academy.
He said, “for us as a local government council and as your landlord, we have discovered the pertinent need to partner with Charkin Maritime Academy.This is what has informed us to sponsor nine of the cadet you are seeing here today.”
Speaking further, Ariolu boasted that his administration owns the highest pride as the local government council sponsoring the largest number of cadets in the institution.
“It is on record that we have the highest number of cadets in the local government areas of Rivers State,” he added.
He said, “we will continue to partner with Charkin Maritime Academy, understanding the importance and imperative measures of maritime technology in our recent technological development as a nation.”
Ariolu also congratulated the governing council of the institution, describing the academy as an institution with global reputation and recognition.
He expressed joy that the institution is located within Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, commending the founder, Charles Wami, for establishing the academy which has nurtured students to excellence.
He said, “Charkin Maritime Academy is a maritime institution with high global reputation.
“The people of Obio/Akpor are indeed blessed with the location of the institution in the LGA.
“It is with great joy that I, therefore, congratulate you on the feat of your maiden matriculation and induction ceremony which is an indication of the institution’s acceptability by the general public,” he concluded.
In his remark, the CEO and MD of the Academy, Dr. Charles Wami, who appreciated guests and other dignitaries that turned up for the occasion, disclosed that the academy was borne out of the desires to develop young boys and girls in Nigeria from 16-22 years of age as Global Merchant Navy Officers.
The ceremony, which featured the Chairman of the institution’s Governing Council, King Alfred Diete-Spiff inspect the Guard of Honour, had trappings of pomp and pageantry.
Guests who graced the event included, member representing Port Harcourt Federal Constituency 1 in the House of Representatives,Hon Ken Chikere; Bishop of Niger Delta North, Rt Rev Wisdom Ihunwo; Mayor of Port Harcourt City Local Government, Hon Allwell Ihunda; Nyenwe Eli Akpor Kingdom, Eze Ozuowuowu Levi Amos Oriebe; captains of Industry, amongst others.
On the chairman’s entourage are; Chief of Staff, Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, Promise Ogbonda; Chief Protocol Officer, Buduziri Amadi; Supervisor for Works, Samuel Amadi; Supervisor for Agriculture, India Amadi; Supervisor for Women Affairs, Victoria Amadi; Supervisor for Education, Henry Ebere; Supervisor for Youths and Sports, Newman Ogbonda.

HoS Hails Fubara Over Provision of Accommodation for Permanent Secretaries

The Head of Service (HoS) of Rivers State, Dr. Mrs. Inyingi S. I. Brown, has commended Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, for approving befitting accommodation for Permanent Secretaries in the state.

This commendation was contained in a press release made available to newsmen in Port Harcourt.

According to the Head of Service, Governor Fubara has continued to demonstrate uncommon commitment to the welfare of civil servants in Rivers State, stressing that such gestures underscore his people-oriented leadership style. She urged civil servants across the state to remain supportive of the governor’s administration in order to sustain good governance and effective public service delivery.

Speaking on behalf of the Body of Permanent Secretaries, Dr. Brown congratulated Governor Fubara on the occasion of his 51st birthday, describing him as “a Governor who leads by serving.”

She further praised the governor’s service-driven and people-centred leadership approach, noting that it has significantly contributed to institutional stability and improved efficiency within the state’s public service. As part of activities to mark the governor’s birthday, the Body of Permanent Secretaries announced the sponsorship of 329 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms for indigent students across the state.

A breakdown of the initiative shows that 319 forms will be distributed across the 319 political wards in Rivers State, while five forms are allocated to non-indigenes and five forms to persons living with disabilities.
