Inaugurating the office, Mr Henry Onuakpor, the Vice President of the institute, said the aims and objectives of establishing state branches nationwide was to promote and ensure professionalism in human resource practice in Nigeria.
“Today, in terms of purpose we are inaugurating the Adamawa branch of Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), the first branch of professional human resource in the North East region.
“The Institute was established by law Act 58 of 1992 to determine what standard of knowledge and skills were to be attained by persons seeking to become registered as personnel management and human resource practitioners.
“The institute has been in existence in Nigeria for 54 years and it has over 17,000 registered members with 27 state branches,” Onuakpor said.
He noted that the institute was so far the only human resource organisation established by law in Nigeria and providing services to private and government institutes.
Mr Sani Isa, the Adamawa new Chairman of the institute, said that the inauguration of the branch would go a long way in promoting professionalism in human resource practice and personnel management.
“We are very glad for the establishment of the state branch of the institute and we have confidence the institute would bring a lot for the state.
