Monarch Tasks CAN On Propagation Of Gospel
A monarch in the Rivers State, King Leslie Eke, Eze Gbakagbaka, has called on the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), in the State, to give more attention to the propagation of the gospel, rather than fued as perceived at some quarters.
Eke made the call when he spoke with journalists at his palace in Woji in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, yesterday.
The Eze Oha Evo III of Evo Kingdom, who expressed displeasure over the development said there was no misunderstanding that God can not handle.
“ I frown at the leadership tussle in CAN. What can be the matter that any Christian has that God can not solve,” he queried.
The Evo King, also reminded those he described as knowing the nitty gritty of Christianity, not to undermine the fact that God works in diverse ways.
Eke who doubles as the General Secretary, Association of Niger Delta Monarchs of Nigeria (ANDMON), informed the group to note that anyone involved in division was not a Christian, as such was not part of Christ’s teachings.
According to him, the hallmark of a Christian was to make peace and added that it would be anti-Christ to work or behave in the opposite.
He further admonished CAN leadership to heed to the advice of the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike in respect to peace and the need to live in harmony.
He noted that Governor Wike had insisted on unity and peaceful coexistence , thus the declaration of Rivers as a Christian state.
“As Christian leaders, you must live above board, bringing to mind the fact that you are the mirror others must use to adjust their ways”, he said.
Meanwhile, he has also called on all Christians in the country not to cease from prayers for both the CAN leadership and the nation, and expressed hope that God will at the end of the day, make Himself manifest.
The Tide learnt that the alleged leadership tussle was as a result of grievance by some of the members who claimed that the process that ushered in the present executive of the body was not transparent.
