Rivers Community Gets New Chiefs
Owing to the vacancies that have existed in the traditional institution in Edeoha Community in Upata Kingdom of Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, since 2010, the people of the community have appointed and installed some family chiefs to fill the vacancies.
The official coronation ceremony of the chiefs which took place at the community’s playground, recently, attracted personalities from all walks of life, amid pomp and pageantry.
The Paramount Ruler of Edeoha Community, Chief Enyii Clifford Jeremiah, while performing the inauguration ceremony charged the chiefs to keep the interest of the community paramount, and further advised them to be ambassadors of peace of the area.
While assuring them of robust collaboration and support of the people of the community, Chief Jeremiah urged the various families which had approved the chiefs for installation to give them the needed support and cooperation for effective service.
On his part, the Nye-Udu Ugbokor, Chief Daniel Moses enjoined the newly installed chiefs to be consistent and resolute as well as selfless in the discharge of their duties.
Among those inaugurated were Chief M. Ezenekwe; Chief Chikwem Abadnugo; Chief Isaac Chinanu; Chief Chima Nathan; Chief Ukame Esu; and Chief Ukpeni Joshua.
Others are Chief Christian Otuya; Chief Goodluck Nelson; Chief Onyekachi Ogbonna; Chief Ibali Ferdinand; Chief Amanu Onyejuwa.
Chiefs Joseph Ojikpor, Chidi Okpor, Henry Saturday, Precious Orluodum, Timothy Alabu, Cyril Atim, Promise Okpor, Orlu Michael, Chukwuma Daniel and Collins Abadi were also among the lot.

Technology Key to Nigeria’s Socio-Economic Development, Says Computer Scientist
Dr. Legborsi Emmanuel, former state Chairman of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), has emphasized that technology is the sure way for Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
He made this assertion while speaking with newsmen at the sideline of 118th inaugural lecture series of Rivers State University (RSU) held in port Harcourt, wednesday.
He stressed that the lecture, which focused on emerging technology and its impact on the socio-economic development of the country, aligns with the NCS’s economic focus.
He highlighted the importance of building an economy driven by technology, citing the success of the Rivers State Smart Economy policy as an example.
The computer scientist emphasized the need for innovation and doing things differently, asserting that “technology is the only way out” for Nigeria’s development. He praised the lecturer, Professor Mathias Daniel, for exploring the applications of technology in various sectors, including agriculture, industry, transport, and socio-economics.
Dr. Emmanuel underscores the critical role technology plays in driving socio-economic growth and development in Nigeria by leveraging technology, the country can unlock new opportunities and address pressing challenges.
