RSHA Summons SPDC Over Failure To Honour Invitation

The Rivers State House of Assembly, has resolved to summon the management of the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) to appear before the executive session of the House due to the failure of the company to honour its invitation. The Chairman, House Committee on Public Complaints and Petitions, Hon Evans Bipi, had presented a committee report on threats to demolish over 800 houses in Umuebulu Community in Etche Local Government Area, by SPDC through the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development without continuation of the agreed payment to the property owners.
Bipi, who is the Chief Whip, and representative of Ogu/Bolo State Constituency in the House, said SPDC should pay for all the marked property as was promised.
The Speaker of the House, Hon IkunyiOwaji-Ibani, while commending the committee for a detailed report, warned SPDC to ensure it honours the House invitation.
The Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Martin Amaewhule, and other lawmakers during debate, expressed displeasure over the manner and conduct of SPDC against the honourable House.
