Group Demands Nkoro Chairmanship Slot
A head of next year’s local government elections in Rivers State, a socio-political organisation, Nkoro Liberation Initiative, has stressed the need for the emergence of an Nkoro man to be elected as the next Executive Chairman of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of the State.
Speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt recently, the Coordinator of the group, Senibo Dickson Kpokpo, Secretary, Engr Idaminabo James, and Public Relations Officer, Thompson O. Sanga disclosed that since the creation of the local government area in 1992, no Nkoro indigene has been elected to serve in the capacity of executive chairman
According to them ,the alleged unwarranted marginalisation by their Opobo brothers has become a stigma to every Nkoro indigene, adding that they have capable people from the area who can occupy the position very effectively if given the opportunity.
They appealed to the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, the PDP leadership both at the state and the local government levels to come to their aid to ensure that an Nkoro person is given the opportunity to become the next Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Council Chairman in the forthcoming local government elections in the state
“We have proud sons and daughters who are active supporters of the state governor and our great party, the PDP with unquestionable characters who are qualified to hold any public office. We appeal to His Excellency through this medium as a peace-loving father to help us out of this marginalisation”, they stated
They averred that Nkoro communities are PDP even as they pledged their continued support and loyalty to the Governor and his administration at all times.
