Kalabari Praise Festival To Hold Annually – Initiator

The forth coming maiden Kalabari Praise Festival, scheduled to hold on November 30, 2019, will become an annual affair that will rotate among Kalabari communities and towns after this weekend’s first edition in Abonnema, Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Making this known in a press release, Pastor Selema Wokoma, the publisher cum Editor-in-Chief of Kalabari Times Magazine, the initiator of the programme, said the festival was “meant to celebrate the blessings of God Almighty upon Kalabari land”.
According to Pastor Wokoma, the festival, tagged, “Kalabari Praise Festival: The Akulga Experience”, with the theme, “Geletein Tamuno” (The Most High God), was an idea he got from God “a few months ago”.
He explained that it was “for the purpose of using it as a platform to thank Him (God) for all things He has done for the Kalabari Ethnic Nationality, even amidst the challenges the area has faced over the years.
“Since after the Nigerian civil war, Kalabari Land has faced a lot of challenges socially, economically, developmentally, religiously, and otherwise, but God, in His infinite mercies, has always seen us through them all.
“As a confirmation of God’s glory upon Kalabari Land, many great men of God have also visited our land in the past one year, the most recent being General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) World-wide, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who held a historic crusade in Abonnema, 15th November, 2019″, he said.
Adeboye’s visit, he continued, amounts to “divinely clearing the coast for the Kalabari Praise Festival, which we believe will be the most perfect way to thank God Almighty for all the great things He has done for us”.
Meanwhile, the festival has already received the blessings of the Amanyanabo of Abonnema, His Majesty, King Disreal Gbobo Bob-Manuel, Ekineye Gbobo II, Owukori IX, as well as the Akulga Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs.
The Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Dr Ipalibo Harry-Banigo, a daughter of Kalabari Land, is among the special guests expected at the event, while some of the gospel musicians expected at the event include Preye Oded, Afi Douglas, Wisdom K., and the Akulga Praise Band.
All indigenes of Akuku-Toru, Asari-toru, and Degema Local Government Areas, in particular, and Rivers State in general are also expected to grace the festival.
