Wike Urges Hoteliers To Cooperate With Security Agencies
Rivers State Governor Chief Nyesom Wike has called on hoteliers operating in the state to work with security agencies to keep tabs on criminal elements.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the National Hotel Association at the Government House ,Port Harcourt last Friday, the governor said that hoteliers have a duty to contribute to securing the state.
He said: “Due to the policies of the Rivers State Government, thousands of people are trooping into the State. As you benefit from the influx as hoteliers, please get the necessary information on those that stay in your facilities.
“These data will be necessary to ensure that you don’t accommodate criminals who will compromise the security of the state”.
Wike said through deliberate policies and programmes, his administration has attracted national and international conferences and events that have benefited hoteliers.
He urged the hoteliers to reciprocate by paying their taxes as at when due, so that the State Government can continue to provide basic amenities for the growth of the society.
President of the National Hotel Association, Mr Lanre Awoseyin lauded Governor Wike for the programmes that have attracted big business for hotel owners across the state.
He urged Wike to continue to develop the tourism potentials of Rivers State because of the revenue the area generates.
The leadership of the National Hotel Association assured Wike of their support.
