INEC Displays List Of Rigistered Voters In Bayelsa …As State Gets New CP
The Independent National Electoral Commission in Bayelsa State says the commission is ready to display about 1,036,442 list of registered voters in various polling units in the state.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Dr Cyril Omoregbe, made this known on Monday in Yenagoa, the state capital, during the commission’s one-day meeting with stakeholders.
The stakeholders comprised the Nigerian Air Force, the police, Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Civil Society Organisations, traditional leaders and the media, among others.
The REC, represented by the INEC’s Administrative Secretary in the state, Mr Lebari Nduh, noted that Bayelsa had a total of 1,804 units located in various communities in the state.
He said that the displaying of the voters roll, which would commence from November 6 to November 12, was aimed at correcting any form of mistakes that might have occurred during the registration processes.
The REC explained that the mistakes could include double appearance of names or wrong spelling of names, missing up of voters status (male/female), missing names, removal of names of dead people, among others.
On distribution of Permanent Voter Cards, Omoregbe said the commission had decentralised the distribution at the ward levels as part of efforts to enable eligible voters to vote and be voted for during the 2019 general elections.
