Commissioner Tasks Ogoni Youth On Skilled Labour
The Rivers State Commissioner for Works, Mr Dumnamene Deekor has decried non-chalant attitude of Ogoni youth in participating in skilled labour.
The commissioner made this known during a courtesy by the members of the National Association of Ogoni Media Workers (NAOMEW) to his office in Port Harcourt recently.
Mr Deekor urged members of NAOMEW to organize a forum for political leaders of Ogoni extraction to give account of their stewardship.
He also enjoined NAOMEW to encourage hardwork amongst the youths, and support credible sons and daughters of Ogoni vying for political positions, stressing that all hands must be on deck to check wanton destruction of lives and property during electioneering period.
He said that Governor Wike’s government was committed to providing developmental projects for Rivers people, adding that his office was open to well-meaning individuals that would move the state forward.
The chairman of NAOMEW, Elden Doole Jacobs thanked Governor Wike for the appointment of Mr Deekor and other sons and daughters of Ogoni into key positions and as well as the developmental projects that had been executed in Ogoni land.
He said that members of NAOMEW were in his office as part of their visit to leaders of Ogoni and other stakeholders to intimate them on their upcoming activities and seek their support for the organisation.
