Don Admonishes Church Members On Faith
The 2017 four-daymaiden Retreat of the Adventist Men’s Organisation, Port Harcourt Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, has ended.
The retreat with the theme: “Amidst Crucible Mission To Neighbours” was held in Elele in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Delivering a keynote address at the event, a Professor of Physiology and Biophysics, College of Health Sciences, University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Arthur-N-Chuemere, urged members of the church to explore the opportunities provided by the conference to strengthen their faith in Christ.
Prof. Chuemere said that the retreat was designed to bring about change or reveal an individual’s true character and learning from the different ways of life.
“It is a period to develop and focus on leadership, especially spiritual leadership that would prepare us for future challenges specifically for providing missions to neighbours”, he said.
The Don said that the programme was a turning point for Adventist Men’s Organisation to advance mission to neighbours by setting aside one Sunday of the quarter of a day for community service which involves sanitation exercise and provision of any other free services to the host communities.
“Importantly, this crucible retreat is to bring about spiritual formation, intentional transformation of the inner person to the character of Christ”.
Declaring the conference open earlier, the Port Harcourt conference AMO Director, Elder Christopher W. Enyindah said that the theme of the conference was coming at a time when the world is in search of peace.
“We are much gripped with fear and uncertainty that most people sleep with their two eyes open”, he regretted.
During the devotional service to end the retreat, Pastor Richard Woke admonished the men of the Seventh Day Adventists Church in Port Harcourt Conference to be morally upright in all their dealings in life.
He urged them to rise to the dictates of the moment by showing good examples in their homes, neighbours and in their working environment.
