IAUOE To Establish Demonstration School
Towards improving the standard of education in the society, the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUOE), Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, says it is poised to establish a demonstration school that would address the challenges of educational decadence among the youth in the state and the nation at large.
The Vice-Chancellor of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Prof. Ozo Mekuri Ndimele disclosed this during the presentation of the interim report containing the blue print on the establishment of the proposed demonstration school by the Committee’s Chairperson, Dr. Anthonia Omehia held at the university’s auditorium, over the weekend, in Port Harcourt.
Prof. Ndimele stated that when the school was established, it would be of international standard and compete favourably among high profile schools globally, adding that the school was poised to bridge the gap existing in the academic standard in the society.
According to him, the institution has the best hands to turn around the misfortune of educational decadence in the state and the country at large adding that aim to establish the school was to provide qualitative education to the young ones who are the upcoming generational leaders in the society.
“We will make the school to be of international repute where excellence will be our watch word. We want to contribute to the societal development in the area of education”.
“We are going to recruit the best man power. We are targeting first and second class upper graduates to be incharge of this new school”, he added.
The Vice Chancellor of IAUOE used the opportunity to thank the university’s Governing Council for approving the establishment of the school in line with the management of the institution desire to diversify its scope with new programmes.
Presenting the report on the blue print, the Chairmanperson of the Committee, Dr. Anthonia Omehia said the school when established would be like a magnet schools and would be of international standard.
Dr. Omehia who was the first lady of the state, averred that the new school which shall be called Metropolitan IAUOE Demonstration School would have a booad Nigerian Curriculum integrated with British Curriculum.
According to her, the school is expected to take-off in September, this year at the St. John’s Campus of the university and would be running programmes in Creech, nursery, primary, junior and Senior secondary.
Earlier, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the university, His Majesty, Aaron Miller Ikuru lauded the authorities of the university for their foresight to establish the new demonstration school.
