Onitsha Monarch Extols King Jaja At 75
The Obi of Onitsha, Anambra State, His Majesty, Professor Nnaemeka Achebe has extolled the qualities of the Amanyanabo of Opobo Kingdom in Rivers State and Chairman, Rivers State Traditional Rulers’ Council, His Majesty, King Dandeson Jaja, Jeki V, saying he is a great man whose rulership has impacted on many people.
Achebe made this assertion while proposing the toast during the 75th birthday celebration of King Jaja at Alfred Diette Spiff Complex, Port Harcourt last Friday.
According to him, the celebrant is a great asset to Opobo Kingdom and Rivers State in general as he extends his love and affection to all, adding that this has engendered peace, progress and unity to his people and other parts of the State.
He opined that his presence is always felt anywhere he goes as he is very approachable, transparent and brings policies that could enhance the traditional institution in the state.
The Obi further said that despite the challenges facing the kingship, he was able to surpass them and carry everybody along, stressing that he possessed qualities worthy of emulation.
Achebe, who was chairman of the occasion noted that the celebration was apt as it was a day to thank God for the life of King Jaja till date and prayed God Almighty to continue to bless him and give him longer life.
In his speech, the celebrant, His Majesty, King Dandeson Jaja said he was overwhelmed by the assemblage of people who turned out to honour him and thanked God for his life.
The Opobo Monarch reiterated that God had been faithful to him during his 23-years of legal tussle over his Kingship, saying that despite the obstacles, God saw him through.

Technology Key to Nigeria’s Socio-Economic Development, Says Computer Scientist
Dr. Legborsi Emmanuel, former state Chairman of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), has emphasized that technology is the sure way for Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
He made this assertion while speaking with newsmen at the sideline of 118th inaugural lecture series of Rivers State University (RSU) held in port Harcourt, wednesday.
He stressed that the lecture, which focused on emerging technology and its impact on the socio-economic development of the country, aligns with the NCS’s economic focus.
He highlighted the importance of building an economy driven by technology, citing the success of the Rivers State Smart Economy policy as an example.
The computer scientist emphasized the need for innovation and doing things differently, asserting that “technology is the only way out” for Nigeria’s development. He praised the lecturer, Professor Mathias Daniel, for exploring the applications of technology in various sectors, including agriculture, industry, transport, and socio-economics.
Dr. Emmanuel underscores the critical role technology plays in driving socio-economic growth and development in Nigeria by leveraging technology, the country can unlock new opportunities and address pressing challenges.
