The Rivers State Government has lauded an indigenous firm, Moo-hi-Tech Nigerian Limited for fabricating a palm kernel cracker machine.
The State Commissioner for Agriculture Mrs Onimim Jack who made the commendation last Wednesday during the commissioning of the machine in Port Harcourt noted that the device was a unique invention capable of separating palm kernel nut from the shell through a mechanized process.
Represented by her Special Assistant (SA), Engr. Deinabo Horsfall, the commissioner called on stakeholders in the agric sector to patronise the firm by making available the machine to operators of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in order to create opportunity for expansion and employment.
The commissioner called on the management and staff of the company to improve on the machine in order to attract investors.
The agric boss added that SMEs had the challenge of finance, even as she said the machine was affordable and within their (SMEs) reach.

He said the machine would contribute to agric growth in the state in particular and the country in general.
Earlier, the Managing Director of Moo-hi-Tech Nigeria Limited Engr., Marcus Oriji disclosed the machine was the first of its kind in this part of the world.
Orji who is also the inventor of the machine explained that the machine cracks, separate the nut within a minute including the capacity of producing tons of high quality nuts a day.
He disclosed that the machine comes in three categories of small, medium and large, adding that it was targeted at communities of the Niger Delta that are noted for the production of palm kernel.
He stressed that to ensure efficiency, the device uses Clevo –soluble solution that helps in separating the shells from the nuts, adding that the machine is built with rubber and stainless materials to avoid corrosion and ensure durability.

BVN Enrolments Rise 6% To 67.8m In 2025 — NIBSS
The Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) has said that Bank Verification Number (BVN) enrolments rose by 6.8 per cent year-on-year to 67.8 million as at December 2025, up from 63.5 million recorded in the corresponding period of 2024.
In a statement published on its website, NIBSS attributed the growth to stronger policy enforcement by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the expansion of diaspora enrolment initiatives.
NIBSS noted that the expansion reinforces the BVN system’s central role in Nigeria’s financial inclusion drive and digital identity framework.
Another major driver, the statement said, was the rollout of the Non-Resident Bank Verification Number (NRBVN) initiative, which allows Nigerians in the diaspora to obtain a BVN remotely without physical presence in the country.
A five-year analysis by NIBSS showed consistent growth in BVN enrolments, rising from 51.9 million in 2021 to 56.0 million in 2022, 60.1 million in 2023, 63.5 million in 2024 and 67.8 million by December 2025. The steady increase reflects stronger compliance with biometric identity requirements and improved coverage of the national banking identity system.
However, NIBSS noted that BVN enrolments still lag the total number of active bank accounts, which exceeded 320 million as of March 2025.
The gap, it explained, is largely due to multiple bank accounts linked to single BVNs, as well as customers yet to complete enrolment, despite the progress recorded.
